Sanremo Song Contest was certainly the most complex installation for Catalyst in this 2009.
3 Catalyst systems, supported by i-Mediaserver Ianiro, managed the main Ledwall, the large 12m screen placet behind the central stage stairs and 4 side panels that visually opened the stage toward left and right.

Also the side ledwall stripes, located high left and right the central grandstand, were managed by Catalyst. Catalysts controlled also 2 Info screens, placed on the small balconies and giving in real time to the audience the main information about the show placet out of field on the small balconies and showing contributions in 4:3 (single, current charts, etc.)

1 Catalyst was for back up with automatic commuting switch in 3 seconds. So the Catalyst netwrok worked in parallel for the maximum safety during the Live broadcasting (RAI1).
The  wiring was completely  in  optic fibre so as to avoid the the loss of image frame and ensure the best synchronization. Fabio Pagano was the expert Catalyst operator for D&D Lighting (service provider for this show). Fabio Longhi, Ianiro Catalyst technician and operator, assisted the service throughout the Festival, in particolar taking care of the reception, check and enhancing of the graphic files to be injested during the show. The Festival showed clearly the importance of having on Live shows a  Catalyst Operator Assistant. In fact Ianiro company already held trainings for RAI staff in order to help the creation of such professional certified profiles, similarly to lighting directors and video editors, able to operate Catalyst in “stand alone” during the most complex Live shows.

At Sanremo Catalyst was also in command of Versatube, RGB Fluorescent tubes that through a PC helped to create a uniform atmoshpere, generating colors matching the main projections.

So a total of 10 outputs, for a projection complexity that forced Fabio Pagano to use all 32 layers available. The system CAtalyst was used here at its full potentials with great success.
