Over recent years I have had several opportunities to use LED technology and I believe strongly in the development and potential use of this technology in our work. I believe it will set a benchmark in the near future, which is why I have been following its evolution very closely.

In addition to the well-known qualities, like extremely low energy consumption and the wide range of colormetrics available, the added value offered today by the Ianiled54 lies in its overwhelming versatility and ease of use.

Perhaps its most innovative feature is its modularity, which makes its useful on both quick sets for ENG crews, and when used in combination with other types of lighting on more complex sets.

That’s why I decided to try it out on quick sets with the famous Italian footballer Totti in the Vodafone ad’, as well as on a very complicated set like that of Real CSI (Italia1 TV channel), with virtual sets and more.

The Ianiled worked out great and what I appreciated most was the use of the circular array around the optics, which proved so useful in illuminating the subject with no shadows.

The pre-set management software is technically fast and although the colormetrics are slightly less stable when dimmed, the issue is easily solved by using a thermocolorimeter.

I am sure Ianiled will continue to play a role in my studies, as well as in creating sets with students in the Masters’ programme we will hold on behalf of the “Accademia della Luce”.
