In grotta con Ianiled54

Eric Minvielle, responsible for shooting on location, Reportage Service de TF1, used Ianiled 54 on a last Ushuaia Nature documentary.

Eric reported : "Ianiled 54 has got a nice power, even though not as much as we are used to get from our conventional sources. But it’s far more lightweight and very suited to the documentary applications. It’s battery powered but it can also be connected to the mains when possible with a consumption of only 54W. It saves you from carrying heavy batteries on location. We used it for shooting in caves. It does not heat and can be hand held in any position. Ianiled 54 calls for a change in our way of working, as the focus of the light is done by lenses, medium, spot and wide. The magnets system is accurate and very practical. You can slide gels in between the plate and the lenses or use the clear filter holders for that. In any case you can make this easily and quickly as the plates of the fixture remains cool. The use of a mix of red and white Led, makes part of a good technological choice I believe, in spite of a certain slight rose tone. The white LED, very intense, often give images with a green dominance. Adding the red compensate for this unpleasant effect without loosing light emission. The rose tone simply disappear as soon as you move the light a bit further away the subject, what does not annoy at all the shootings, and makes you gain more uniformity. The green can be also balanced by using the colour mix pre sets and manual potentiometer. During Ushuaia production we used the light as a mono.block. The constraints of the production did not allow me the time to try it in separate modules as a kicker light. In absence of barndoors, the cameramen has bounced the light against a dark carton. We used in a very humid cave, deep underground, and Ianiled 54 gave a good proof of robustness and can be cleaned quickly with a simple cloth. Also it can be easily repaired on location."
